Lobbying Isn’t What You Think

We need lobbyists more than ever.

While some have built careers vilifying lobbyists, it’s contract lobbyists like me who:

  • Drafted and shepherded legislation that protects nurses from acts of violence.

  • Crafted and propelled a bill that makes it easier for parents to help their children be involuntarily committed during a devastating mental health crisis.

  • Halted legislation that would have dramatically reduced access to health care while spiking health care costs.

Good lobbying isn’t just about thinking outside the box. We don’t dance around the box. We blow it up because we know that some traditions and reputations are meant to be relegated to history.

It’s who you know

I helped to redesign the legislative process currently used in the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) during a major turnover.

For the past two decades, I have cultivated and managed relationships that I leverage to ensure my clients are represented before the legislature and members of the U.S. Congress. As a result, I developed strong bipartisan relationships with the North Carolina House and Senate members and key members of the state’s Congressional Delegation and their staff. I know the right people to get the job done while avoiding the gatekeepers.

In other words, I bring you value by not whether we “win” or “lose.” Instead, my value comes from my experience, expertise, and diversity of relationships I bring. We focus on the long game while investing in short term successes.

Some politicians and pundits argue that ideology drives politics, but the continued growth and nurturing of strong professional relationships determine the outcome of your legislative agenda.

Lawmakers may not agree with my client’s stance on an issue. However, they will at least listen to me because I have a reputation for integrity, excellence, honesty, and fairness. Having such a reputation can help my clients with the same lawmaker, who may reject an idea the first time, but be more aligned with another piece of proposed legislation.

I didn’t get my reputation by being a traditional lobbyist. In fact, I did it by investing in people. Invest in my services and you immediately get access to the relationships it has taken me decades to build.

Not just a mouthpiece

With me, you get expertise, not just a mouthpiece.

For example, I know how to draft legislation, not just present a concept. In addition, I can ensure clients have an opportunity to meet directly with the right legislators – ranging from one-on-one conversations to bringing groups to the Capitol to underscore their points.

Finally, unlike many lobbyists, I don’t take clients who conflict with each other. That means I won’t take a client whose legislative agenda is opposed by another client.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for your complimentary consultation before someone else does. I only have room for a few more clients.
